You need to look further outside that group of people for credible allies.

i think the severity was indeed worse, however more people have had to deal with, or lost someone to cancer/AIDs (i can't remember the list tbh). and taurian and her posse have experience of losing a loved one to cancer, they (to my knowledge) have not had a child attacked in the manner gq has, so therefore - it is more important to them that Angie mocked cancer.
angie casts a wide disgusting net with issues that set a lot of people off and she truly doesn't give a s.
taurian attacked in a targeted vicious way that was disgusting and thought she'd gone unnoticed. taurian does care what people think, she cares for her own future prospects hence the false apology and excuses.
