My dad used to slap us as kids but I never did it to my own, the mere mention of the naughty step to my two eldest children put the fear into them, it was like the steps of shame 😂 Then I had my other two who are SEN kids and they didn’t give a rats arse about the naughty step. Had to reward them for good behaviour instead and do it all differently. I dunno if anyone had their teacher smack their arse before, I did. I was terrified of that b woman. And this was in the late 80’s. Ugh she was HORRIBLE
They were just phasing out using the strap when I was at school. I got belted a few times.

I remember wetting myself at school once, I think I was like 7. She would go absolutely nuts if a kid asked to go to the toilet. She would smack kids on the arse regularly for barely anything. I was too scared to ask her to go loo and I wet myself on the chair. I scurried off quick home at lunchtime to change. I swear it was illegal even back then, don’t know how she got away with it. She’s probably dead now. Good.

Ooh and the time in art we had to do like a picture story in our art book. And my story was about the religious education teacher dying and no one attending her funeral . (We had personal beef). My head of year told me I was “not normal” 🤣🤣
My child development teacher called my mum on Mother’s Day to tell her I’d given her a breakdown. As you can imagine it went down like a lead balloon 😂

I was telling 2 pumps a story about art at school the other day and my school was kinda racist. All we drew in art was fruit and a collection of Zulu masks the school has to this day and have never disclosed where they got them 😭

They maybe weren't all Zulu but they were definitely African tribal masks. I always felt odd drawing them and I ain't white 😭

I personally don’t even agree with shouting at children. It’s just not me. I’ve managed to raise amazing humans up to now without shouting or hitting them
Well I've shouted at my kids. I aint pretending to be perfect cos we are expected to in here. But what I haven't done is to that extent. that horribly, that they sob and cry in front of a live audience and not switch off my live to see to them. My shouting can be done if different ways to these fs. My kids would call my shouting just Mam. Not fing terrified. Sickens me the way she done that and thats forever there 💔😥

When I think back, our teachers were just child abusers with qualifications. We didn't tell our parents because it was just the norm. Getting a dig in the side of the head was an every day occurance. Can you imagine a teacher doing something like that now?

I remember our local bobby clipping my brother around the earhole when caught in an abandoned mechanical garage that was about to fall to bits, the look on my Dads face was more of a punishment than anything. I think I was lucky that we were not smacked as children

I `nearly` ended up homeless, must have been 14 at the time and I was out of it, Frosty Jacks or White lightening was a thing when I was that age and had come home and got a bit mouthy with my Mum, my Dad saw red and I lived in the shed for about a week

My daughter had a substitute teacher who cracked open a can of cider, in-font of the full class. I couldn’t actually believe it. Then I thought if stuff like that is still happening now. Lord knows how bad it was back in the day. I can only imagine, just how awful it must have been
