The 2024 United States presidential election will be the 60th quadrennial presidential election, set to be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2024.[1] Voters will elect a president and vice president for a term of four years. Incumbent President Joe Biden, a member of the Democratic Party, is running for re-election.[2] His predecessor Donald Trump, a member of the Republican Party, is running for re-election for a second, non-consecutive term, after losing to him in 2020.[3] If both are nominated, this will mark the first presidential election rematch since 1956.

Ok. I'll start. For me, it's terrifying to live in the US right now. The choice is between a geriatric corporate geezer and an elderly sociopath with zero moral compass reputed to wear adult diapers.

Biden knows he's losing voters with his funding the genocide so occasionally he tosses a crumb and fake-scolds Israel. But the defense/war industry is raking in the $$$ and he needs those corporate campaign funds. Wink wink. Our problems are huge and growing, but all we ever get is platitudes designed to shut us up and get our vote. Hungry? Homeless? Here are some words but no help.

The other one is posting and deleting about a "United Reich". OH MY GOD. And his minions eat it up. He just asked oil companies for a billion dollars in exchange for a rollback of environmental laws. Oh, and he's indicted with 88 crimes. Nothing will happen to him because there are no consequences for him ever.

Again. It is terrifying to be here.

Both terrible for different reasons. Australian politics is bad but it's not that bad over here yet but probably wont be long with the idiots in charge getting worse.
I can't vote but if I could I would Biden and expect him to be wheeled off and replaces with someone less incompetent.

must be nice to have access to unlimited financial resources to pay for whatever fine you get for purposely breaching a gagging order. Trump has breached 10 and still managed to avoid jail every time. I would say that judge he says is ''conflicted'' has been very soft.

YES!!! He can become president. As a convicted felon, he cannot vote - but can hold the highest office in the land. He cannot join the military - but can be Commander in Chief! Make it make sense! His cult members have donated $34 Million since his conviction. Any Republican running must "donate" 5% of their fundraising to him. He commits crimes in public view. The hush money convictions are not about paying off a porn actress. They were about financial shenanigans during the campaign.

The only good thing is now they discuss him on the news as "convicted felon Donald Trump" - which gives me a little joy.

He can't stand down. The next two criminal cases are the January 6 insurrection and the classified documents cases. These are federal charges and very serious. He can't pardon himself on the hush money case because it's a state case. He could pardon himself from federal convictions. But our beloved and trusted Supreme Court has ensured that those cases won't even be heard until after the election. This country just sucks.

We didn't want him in 2020 either, but he was sold as the anyone but Trump candidate. They said he was a "placeholder" till the next election; that he would step aside for someone new. But please, no one gets to the White House without a quest for absolute power, no one wants to give that up. They think we're all so stupid, and I guess it must look like that to the outside world. What we are is exhausted. The cost of living is so high, more and more people become homeless every day. People can't pay their basic bills. God forbid we need to go to a doctor! We the people want universal healthcare, reproductive rights, an end to constant wars (conducted to put $$$ in the pockets of the defense industry). We'd like to be able to afford to travel outside the country. We'd like the food companies to stop poisoning us.

We're not as stupid and ignorant as people assume. We know we live in a dystopian nightmare and that the powers that be don't give a s. So many people I know are looking at becoming refugees if Trump gets elected. What I do is focus on my circle of friends and family and find my joy there.

why do you think he won't show up? is he being sentenced before that date? I still can't believe this is the very best the US have to offer. I saw a news article about a secret plot by the democrats to oust Biden. I don't know if this was just the daily mail peddling conspiracy nonsense.

Trump tends to go off on crazy tangents when he's away from his handlers. The other day it was about getting eaten by a shark (don't ask, I have no idea) He announced he would testify in his trial, but the lawyers wouldn't let him. He's Looney tunes.

There are plenty of intelligent, qualified people the Democratic Party could have put up, but they seem to feel that it's Biden's turn so even though the decline is painfully obvious, we get him. They sell him as the lesser of two evils.

Trump is honest to god frightening. He has people that support him no matter what. I feel that he's told us what he wants to do but people are like there's no way he could get away with those things. They forget that he surrounds himself with sycophants who will do anything to stay on his good side. He is a true Malignant Narcissist. I am terrified.
