The stereotype about black people not being able to swim comes from the history of pools not been accessible to black people, they weren't being built in black neighbourhoods and also the because of race segregation. Black people not being able to use "white spaces". In 2014 surely Alicia was in her mid 20s, I'd expect her to know better.
