It was used, but it wasn't OK. At primary school I was deemed naughty, I was infact autistic, the times I had a wooden ruler to my knuckles is ridiculous. In the end my mum when "ape s' and it didn't happen again!

it wasn't about when I was at school. My foster parents gave us the slipper. Just one slipper (not a pair) was on the banister upstairs. We used to have to go upstairs to be smacked with the slipper. I can't have anyone I know/love walk behind me on the stairs. But I'm ok with strangers in public. Glad you had a momma bear 
I was smacked with the wooden spoon as a child but I practice a more gentle approach to parenting. Probably as I was traumatised by the spoon. I couldn’t imagine raising a hand or a spoon to mine. If adults did it to another adult it would be classed as a crime.
