No-one has an answer so I clearly need to trip the child. Make him fear the outside world. Into the house, child! Never leave again!

Or, you know, carry on as I do by letting the Mom know when I see the kid running and only step in physically if it's literal life or death. 👍🏻
I was gonna say film the interaction and it sounded weird but if your demanding an answer there you go, film the runaway

Hmmm, no idea but this happened to me years ago,I was walking to my Mums and a house I passed a wee boy about 2 came out the house with just a nappy on, nothing else. There was a main road just round the corner. I grabbed him and took him to the door that was open, woman eventually came to the door reeking of drink and said “thanks” grabbed him and shut the door

I just want help from other irresponsible adults! 😭😂

Filming brings a whole load of other anxiety into my head. This world is fed when I'm having such an internal struggle trying to help. 🤦‍♂️😂

I think I'll break into her house and install a fingerprint lock. That'll solve it. 🤷‍♂️😂

Off topic question!
There's a kid who lives near me who is non-verbal autistic. I think he's around 5/6. I saw him doing a runner from his Mom's house (opened the front door himself). I asked him where he was going a couple times, obviously not expecting an answer but was hoping the Mom would appear in that moment. She did not. So I went to her door, opened it slightly and told her her kid had done a runner. Thankfully my Mom had popped by so she was able to keep eyes on the kid. Question is, though, what the do are you supposed to do? Back in the day the adult would've just grabbed the kid to stop them, but in these days that wouldn't go down too well (especially if the kid fought with you). I can just see this becoming a more recurrent situation as he ages and want to obviously help stop him from getting run-over, but I'm also not looking to cop a lawsuit.
I think either way your in a situation obviously you mean no harm to the child but that child my pose a harm to themselves the mum needs to seek help there are things to help stop children escaping but she doesn't even seem to acknowledge her own child escaping which is scary. You'd never want to be in a situation where the mum turns nasty and accuses you of things for instance but you also see the dangers of the outside world to a child on their own who sees the world differently. It's a really difficult situation to be put in I think.

I wouldn't know any of my information to make an account, isn't there a number you need or something? Either way I cba asking the doctors for it 😂
For the patient access you have to ask your GP surgery for online access s.
For the NHS app you need your NHS number, that is usually on letters I think.

I'm not sure what I'd do in the moment either, but I do see people on TikTok filming if they've found a kid so they can't get accused of being creepy. But filming is creepy too 😭

Speak to the mom and just ask if she's OK with you possibly restraining him from walking in the road or disappearing off the street. I'm sure she would be more than grateful.
