DSM-5-TR Diagnostic Criteria for Narcissistic Personality Disorder
In interpersonal settings, there is a pervasive pattern of grandiosity, need for admiration, and lack of empathy. This pattern of behaviors onsets in early adulthood and persists through various contexts. Clinical features include at least 5 of the following:
Having a grandiose sense of self-importance, such as exaggerating achievements and talents, expecting to be recognized as superior even without commensurate achievements
Preoccupation with fantasies of success, power, beauty, and idealization
Belief in being "special" and that they can only be understood by or associated with other high-status people (or institutions)
Demanding excessive admiration
Sense of entitlement
Exploitation behaviors
Lack of empathy
Envy towards others or belief that others are envious of them
Arrogant, haughty behaviors and attitudes
Brief Mel's list for starters. We need 5 for a diagnosis....
(Unqualified & grandiose Mel labelled her mother as a narcissist so I thought when in Rome & had a go myself
)
1) Arrogant, haughty behaviors and attitudes (followers of Mel's account see these behaviours three times a day every day)
2) Lack of empathy (followers of Mel's account see these behaviours three times a day every day)
3) Exploitation behaviors (I've learned it is possible to exploit an entire estranged family through Mel's channel)
4) Demanding excessive admiration (how many selfies has Mel posted of herself on her supposed trauma support Tik Tok?)
5) Sense of entitlement (Mel maintains she is entitled to do EXACTLY as she pleases regarding harassment of her estranged family or anyone who disagreed with her, rules don't apply to her & only her needs re her estranged family are important)
6) Having a grandiose sense of self-importance, such as exaggerating achievements and talents, expecting to be recognized as superior even without commensurate achievements
(Labelling oneself as a public figure & telling 50k people she is a public figure is exceptionally exaggerated & self important)
