Sevda is intellectually challenged and has a speech impediment too. Ela, along with the fs mannerisms and poor speech, has unfortunately learnt this. It’s not inherited. So I agree, she’s been stunted and there’s no doubt she would have flourished if she had been kept in school and encouraged to do well. She can’t stand to think that Ela could be smarter than her. Ela probably is even though she’s behind currently. Can certainly read better.This is it. Smugness of not wanting upset anyone. Not giving ideas either, cause what 8 year old wants plastic babyish tat like that, however it might cost. But, ewa isn’t a normal 8 year old because she has been left at the age of 3 and not encouraged to develop. The only learning difficulties she has, is from being taken out of school, and a mum who can’t read herself. I know people who have genuine learning disabilities, I work with them, they can’t help it, there is a significant difference. Ewa has just simply been stunted, as Sevda probably was before her.
It doesn’t matter how much you spend, if something is all you can afford, that means so much more. Some kids are getting nothing for Xmas as their parents can’t afford, or some parents, who put their kid first, would go without eating for a few days in order to be able to give their child at least some little thing to open and the feeling that ‘Santa has been’ it’s about the magic. She’s disgusting. I’m fortunate I’ve been in a position to buy lots of stuff for my kids, but, if I hadn’t, I’d do my damdnest to make things special. Also, for the little kids who will get nothing, I love the idea supermarkets etc are doing that you can donate something. If every person who could afford to do that did, would make a big difference, even just to one child’s life. But if sevda did that, we’d all know about it! I know parents who aren’t academically the brightest. They struggled and despised school themselves. But they want their children to do well and succeed in life. Sevda absolutely does not want this with ela because it means that she won’t have Ela by her side in the future. She has no one in her life that cares about her and is really grooming Ela to be a pseudo partner of sorts. You see it in the way Ela spouts things about sedat - she absolutely pours all her woes onto Ela and I bet Ela tries her best to reassure her mum. She’s still very young, she doesn’t understand it fully yet. Hopefully Ela comes to realise what a failure of a parent Sevda is and leave.

My parents although not the wealthiest always made sure we had food ,clothes and simple necessities every kid has. Presents were always appreciated but we always had a main present plus the smaller ones, that kid is not grateful for anything she has and asking for a plate you give a baby to learn to feed themselves is something lol kids even younger than her are wanting bikes,scooters or whatever new high tech games are out. My cousins girl is 4 and asked for make up lol she even opens her own crisps and cakes lol ewa being stunted isn’t the word. You let kids grow into their own but not the turkish queen of yoghurt. Also can read at a year 6 level? did we not hear her attempt to read the card
