OMG you're right! I was looking at the booking cover charge -which did seem far too cheap to be fair. It was well over £500 for that trip. And that's only a part of the birthday present, both my parents worked and nobody ever got such an elaborate birthday.

The Frome <> Paddington train tickets could be over a hundred pounds for return tickets, I don't know if she'd qualify for a concession since she's on disability. Then the Hilton for two nights, if I've searched right that averages at £140 per night for an adult & child. Just the afternoon tea...

It really was the "spiritual" version of the Glasgow Willy Wonka experience. It just wasn't popular enough to get media coverage, which is saying something.
