A dog attack? A dog tried to take Lous head off? Ste Irwin wrangled it like he did the cat and saved Lous life. The police took the dog, put it in the cells. They trained it and rehomed the dog and the new family gave Ste and Lou 'pupdates' sounds legit to me.
