Shaun’s placid as s Beth got to do what ever she wanted Shaun never stopped her doing anything she lost control of Shaun because of drugs that’s the problem i think Shaun just got fed up of her toxic controlling ways and after he lost his mom he’s mental health spiralled out of control and she wasn’t there for him when he needed her the most .She wants to be needed and be seen as the person to save him she doesn’t understand addiction and Shaun has to save himself.
