It's not fing hard. Yes, a lot of us over a certain age likely said it in childhood and our younger years, but as we matured we came to understand that it is offensive, derogatory and a hurtful slur. Stop trying to defend it, stop trying to say "it's ok in American slang" or "they used it on a TV show once". You know better, so either own it and say "I know it's wrong, but I don't give a do" or apologise and do better.
