Big up the Māori people for standing up for their rights
I hope they’re okay and return soon. It was nice to see them in my inbox sharing something again.I think they've probably deleted their profile, if it's the same person I've just looked for x
So awful. In the 184 years since that treaty was made between the Māori people and the English crown it has never been honoured. When it was signed Māori people made up for 98% of New Zealand, as of last year 17% of New Zealand are Māori and the parliament want to rewrite the terms of a treaty that they never honoured anyway. I'm not Māori but people I care about deeply are, that's why I know so much about it
I’ve also just watched a history vid about the Lakota people in America and what was done to them. Thrown out of their sacred spiritual moutains for gold and then just to carve Mount Rushmore into it. They made them sign treaties and gave them all false promises but then literally massacred a lot of them and then made the rest leave. Horrific.Oh and in 1840 the Māori cheifs never acted upon the sovereignty the treaty gave them, their home was being colonised and they simply wanted everyone to exist happily together, for Māori people to be allowed to enjoy their land and culture and for peace. Little history lesson of what the parliament over there want to rewrite
Indigenous and native people all over the world get treated so unfairly. They've also tried to say well the people who signed the treaty are dead so it's no longer valid. But it was signed by a Whānau, a group and that group doesn't die, it's a group of recognised people whose family now exist and represent that group. My friend described it as the treaty is valid until the sun no longer shines and the rivers run dry.I’ve also just watched a history vid about the Lakota people in America and what was done to them. I have so much respect for this woman. She held the haka before and to hold it again with such confidence and conviction under such situations is an absolute fing inspiration to the younger Māori people.Oh wow! I love it. The speaker man giving an eye roll though
I remember an interview with dahmer and he was asked ‘are you racist’ (because his victims were black men) and he said ‘I’m in no way racist but the police are and that’s how I got away with it.Dahmer/Gacy too, they all killed young, vulnerable gay men because they were easy targets.
