I remember when I was a kid and people would just open their doors and let the dogs out to roam the streets (ours included) on our estates. It was a completely normal thing back then but the amount of times I saw dogs 'humping' or owners trying to separate dogs then ending up with litter after litter. Almost every female dog we had got pregnant and had pups. Thinking back I'm like why didn't they all get them done or at least not let them roam the streets. No wonder every family i knew had dogs. Christ what a memory

The amount of historical abuse cases that have come out in the past 10/15 years has been shocking! I totally agree with you on that.i have people in a large dog group,I run saying “oh I’m letting her have 1 litter as they say it’s better for them” or “ oh I want her to experience being a Mum” I try and educate them,tell them there’s actually no need for a dog to have a litter as they’re not like humans who might have maternal instincts. Also explain how fing hard it is raising a litter,that’s if they do it properly. Cats in particular are bad as they come into season so many times a year,it’s a shame. If you have an outside cat you need to neuter or spay otherwise they’re going to be confused pregnant or getting other cats pregnant
