An upstate New York school has banned students from singing Jingle Bells over fears it was first performed by a minstrel act who wore blackface.

I actually don't know how I feel about this tbh.

Nowhere
The guy who wrote it wrote songs for the confederacy during the civil war, I dunno if it's an all out ban to not sing it or just be aware of who wrote it
Supposedly (please someone fact check me) the guy also was part of the crew on a whaling ship which he joined age 14 and remained on for almost a decade so there’s that too

Can someone help me out and tell me why you're not allowed to sing 'Jingle bells' anymore?
Just found this from this Article
About two years ago she stumbled across a rather different story. The song, initially known as One Horse Open Sleigh, was first performed in blackface in a minstrel show in Boston in September 1857, she discovered.
