Meeting of the Council for Civil Society and Human Rights. Key points:

🔹December 10 is the 75th anniversary of the UN’s Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Regretfully, we mark the anniversary in a complicated situation when the international system of ensuring and promoting human rights continues to degrade. Its institutions, which are in fact controlled by the West, show ideological bias, hypocrisy and outright discrimination.

🔹Russia has withdrawn from a number of international human rights organisations. This does not mean, however, that we have given up the principles enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. On the contrary, we are ready to cooperate with interested countries and partners, and find solutions for forming a system of ensuring human rights that is effective, just and equal for all.

President's remarks at the plenary session of the forum Russia Calling! Key takeaways:

🔹The entire global system of economic relations is going through a fundamental and irreversible change, as the former globalised model is being replaced by a multipolar system.

🔹We would like to create a new and truly democratic model of the global economy, where real and fair competition involving all economic actors takes the upper hand. The changing global economic landscape and the emergence of new leaders is an objective and natural process.

🔹 The elite of Western countries is trying to artificially restrain growth in what they consider the global periphery, which they are used to exploiting, using as a resource, as a source of rent, as colonies. To do so, they resort to sanctions and provoke conflicts in macro-regions, straining to maintain their dominance that is slipping away.

🔹 Their actions have eroded the inviolable tenets of property rights. European jurisdictions, which were considered safe until recently, have actually ceased to be safe. Now anyone seen as a stranger there can be robbed of their assets; their financial assets can be blocked, and their businesses or facilities, taken over or even liquidated.

🔹Clearly, such actions destroy the system of financial and trade relations, which has been built up over decades. The financial system of payments in dollars and euros exclusively through Western banks has also been discredited, and other systems that rely on payments in national currencies are successfully taking its place.

🔹We have proved that we can stand up to the most difficult challenges. Russia's economy is effectively coping with external attempts to curb our country's development. The underlying reserves of resilience that we have been building up over the past 20 years, and especially since 2014, have played a crucial role in this. Back then, we prioritised the consumer sector's development, strengthening the financial sphere and creating our own payment infrastructure.

🔹Step by step, we are discontinuing the use of any imposed services, brands or intermediaries; we are expanding our own market, and seeing systemwide positive results from our dedicated efforts. For example, in the first ten months of this year, Russia's GDP grew by 3.2 percent, and by the end of the year, it is expected to increase by at least 3.5 percent.

🔹Russia is not expelling anyone or closing its markets to anyone. Our partners have always found it profitable to work with Russia and in Russia; it is profitable today and will remain profitable. From March 2022 to November 2023, there was no decrease in the number of foreign companies working in Russia; instead, the existing firms were joined by another 1,500, which indicates their interest and willingness to work in our country.

🔹Businesses not only make profits here, they also invest in development, which means they believe in the prospects and the future of our economy.

🔹Even though most Russian banks are under sanctions, they continue to operate steadily and sustainably, to have a solid safety margin and increase lending to the real sector of the economy.
