Still sober, still here. Somehow. Not in a great way, unsurprisingly, so focusing time + energy on looking after my little family (SB, Laurie + Cooper ) + sorting out the house move (extremely stressful + throwing up lots of difficult stuff). Hope you’re all ok. Back soon. X
R to @PHepden: Not really okay, it’s been dicey, but with a v good and insistent support network I’m somehow still sober and still here. This too shall pass, etc
R to @Hiljay58: Oh! While I was sorting through a big box of paperwork earlier I came across a letter you wrote me YEARS ago and it was a real balm amongst some of the other stuff that was in that box! Lovely to hear from you and hope alls well xx
R to @JoaquinMarcosM: Daily meetings to touch base with fellow travellers on the same journey, lots of sober friends, (reluctantly) reaching out for contact/conversation when in a precarious bit, and sometimes just putting myself to bed like a toddler with milk and cookies and waiting for it to pass…
R to @grannymoonboots: Hope you’re okay GMB, sorry you got caught in the turgid slipstream of obsessive hate mongerers… It’s a tactic of theirs, to inundate any supportive friends with abuse so they’re intimidated and don’t speak up in future. Absolutely horrible, undeserved, and sadly v effective.
R to @tinycharlotte72: Exactly the same!! Mum is originally from Belfast, but this was a common refrain in our house growing up…and one I appear to be carrying on with gusto…
R to @tinycharlotte72: (Occasionally spiced up with the odd ‘friggin’ or ‘bleedin’, depending on quite how many lights had been left on and which one of the parents discovered them! )
R to @Depheruk: Trust me on this one, save it for the memoir. That way people can crab about it all they like, but they’ll at least have paid you for it. (And now I finally have an answer to those viral ‘what would you tell your 16 year old self’ tweets I guess.)
R to @BootstrapCook: But write it anyway, for yourself first, even if you’re not sure about publishing it. Get it all down and do it with support (therapist, friends, whoever - this stuff is TRICKY to start pulling out of ourselves and gets very complicated very quickly in the old head department).
R to @davishr2018: There’s a veg peel fritter, falafel, and stock, in #ThriftyKitchen - I’ll dig them out for you! I also did a veg peel stuffing/nut roast in the Express for a Christmas recipe a few years back that’s a bit of a hit, I’ll see if I can find it.
