The President held a meeting of the State Council Presidium on the development of Russian industry in conditions of sanctions pressure

Highlights:

🔸It is necessary to develop technological partnerships with friendly foreign companies more dynamically.

🔸We need to focus in particular on reverse engineering programmes that can adapt and make effective use of foreign technology.

🔸It is necessary to expand financial preferences, including introducing tax incentives for buyers of Russian high-tech equipment.

The President also gave a number of instructions on developing the processing industry and supporting effective designs, as well as on customs and tariff policies.

“The new look of the Russian economy is largely dependent on the successful fulfilment of tasks of the industrial policy. By and large, this is a matter of national security and the advancement of all the regions of this country, efforts to create up-to-date jobs, and family income growth,” the President stressed.

Vladimir Putin received letters of credence from 17 newly-appointed foreign ambassadors. The ceremony was held in the St Alexander Hall of the Grand Kremlin Palace

"The situation in the world is currently challenging, with many disagreements that may seem irreconcilable at times and often hinder normal productive cooperation between states. However, I would like to hope that the activity of your embassies will help to foster cooperation between our countries. You may rest assured that all of your initiatives and proposals that are in line with this endeavour will have the support of both Russian officials and our business and public circles. Russia is open to constructive partnership with all countries without exception. We do not intend to isolate ourselves nor do we have any prejudiced or hostile intentions towards anybody and expect that our partners will adhere to the principles of equality and mutual consideration of interests in their relations with Russia," the President stressed.

The President held, via videoconference, a meeting of the Security Council on ensuring the rule of law, public order and security on the territories of the Donetsk and Lugansk people's republics, the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions

"The situation in these regions remains tense. The Kiev regime continues to commit grave crimes against the local civilian population. They spare no one, subjecting cities and towns to missile strikes, artillery and mortar shelling. They carry out regular terrorist attacks against government officials and law enforcement agencies, journalists, public activists and school and university teachers. The neo-Nazis and their collaborators' activity has spread beyond the new constituent entities as crimes have been reported in other Russian regions as well. We have every reason to claim that the potential of third countries and Western intelligence services has been used in plotting the sabotage and terrorist attacks," the President stressed.

The President's key points at the Security Council meeting:

🔹It is important to integrate the historically Russian lands of Donbass and Novorossiya into the economic, legal and education systems of our country as soon as possible.

🔹Law enforcement and security services must make every effort to ensure the security of the local population.

🔹Creating territorial units of law enforcement agencies and security services in the new constituent entities must be completed by June 1; subsequently, providing them with cutting-edge equipment, weapons and telecommunications must be a priority.

🔹It is important to more actively engage local residents in protecting public order and immediately react to reports from the public and to improve communications.

🔹The absolute majority of citizens in the new regions have made a conscious historical choice. They must know, see and feel that they are backed by a big country, and we will do everything to protect them.
