The President will also bestow the Hero of Labour of the Russian Federation gold medals on Russian citizens who have earned this award.

The presidents discussed current issues of bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest. Special emphasis was laid on trade and economic ties including supplies of Russian wheat as well as fertiliser and fuel to Mali.

Assimi Goïta thanked Vladimir Putin for the humanitarian aid being rendered and for the assistance in ensuring security, neutralising the terrorist threat and stabilising the situation throughout Mali.

The parties reaffirmed their mutual commitment to further strengthening traditionally friendly Russian-Malian relations.

“Today we are opening two new sections of the Don Federal Motorway, a road bypassing Aksai in the Rostov Region and a bypass to the west of Krasnodar. These comfortable modern high-speed motorways have opened ahead of schedule and will serve our people, boost economic growth, help improve the quality of life, improve connectivity between cities and towns, reduce travel time for holiday-makers on their way to the resorts of Crimea and Kuban, and, in general, substantially increase the transport, industrial, agricultural and economic potential of southern Russia,” the President said.

The project is being implemented on the President’s instructions as part of the development of long-distance alternate access motorways to the Crimean Bridge.

Statement for the media following Vladimir Putin's talks with President of Algeria Abdelmadjid Tebboune. Highlights:

The talks were very productive, which is evident from the impressive package of documents signed, aimed at further strengthening relations between our countries in various areas.

The Declaration on Advanced Strategic Partnership between Russia and Algeria is a new important bilateral document that sets clear guidelines for long-term cooperation.

For many years, Algeria has consistently acted as one of Russia's leading trading partners on the African continent. In the first quarter of 2023 alone, bilateral trade grew by more than 73 percent.

Joint work is underway to expand the practice of carrying out transactions in national currencies, which will help shield bilateral trade from the influence of third countries and the negative developments in the global currency markets.

Russia and Algeria are successfully expanding energy cooperation. Large Russian energy companies have been operating in the Algerian market for a long time, including Gazprom, Transneft, Stroytransgaz, Power Machines and others.

We place great emphasis on working with our Algerian colleagues to stabilise global energy markets, including in the OPEC Plus format and the Gas Exporting Countries Forum.

Algeria is interested in the development of national nuclear energy. Rosatom State Corporation is ready to participate in joint projects, including those related to the non-energy application of nuclear technologies

As is traditional, Russia is heavily involved in training highly qualified Algerian personnel, and we have decided to increase the quota of state-funded places for Algerian citizens by one-third.
