Meeting on the development of tourism. Highlights:

🔹Russia's tourism industry is growing fast, boosting its appeal and progressing to a new level.

🔹Russia has immense historical and cultural potential as well as environmental attractions for the long-term development of its tourism sector.

🔹The common goal for the state and for business is to ensure greater quality in tourism services and infrastructure, and strive for the best standards of convenience, accessibility and safety.

🔹A draft law on VAT exemptions for tour operators should be considered and adopted by the end of the parliament's current spring session.

🔹Efforts should also include facilitating a concept for developing automobile tourism as well as projects to launch year-round seaside resorts. We should aim to provide the highest level of service in terms of price and quality, the equal of the world's best, and even surpass them.

🔹An option should be promptly introduced for foreign tourists to obtain an e-visa for major tourist destinations.

Vladimir Putin is attending the forum of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives (ASI), Strong Ideas for a New Time

"Right now, it is important to help Russian manufacturers to get the ball rolling. We need our own brands that the country will be proud of, trademarks that will be recognisable not only in Russia but in the rest of the world. We are all adults here. You are also entrepreneurs. You know that work takes time and things are done step by step. We will start with our closest neighbours, the CIS, then the SCO and BRICS countries. These markets are enormous, even colossal," the President stressed.

Vladimir Putin's remarks at the Strong Ideas for a New Time forum of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives. Highlights:

🔸The number of proposals submitted to the forum has increased by more than 50% since 2020. Residents of the historical territories of Donbass and Novorossiya have joined the project.

🔸Civic, business and volunteer initiatives drive Russia's development forward while a strong and responsible civil society forms the foundation of our country's sovereignty.

🔸Relying on the best solutions proposed by our citizens and business associations, we must build a supply-oriented economy that exists not by consuming foreign imports but by creating and producing modern goods, services and technology.

🔸With sanctions in place and Western companies having left the country, opportunities for Russian businesses have multiplied. They are quickly filling market niches and exploring new sectors, including in exports.

🔸Our companies already produce goods that are in no way inferior to foreign alternatives and often surpass them. It is important to help Russian manufacturers to get the ball rolling. We need our own brands that will be recognisable not only in Russia but in the rest of the world.

🔸We need a targeted policy for comprehensive promotion of Russian brands at all levels, including both traditional and new media. Every region must have a programme to promote local brands.

“We intend to continue to deepen ties with members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation. These ties are becoming stronger and more diverse. Russia’s trade with SCO member states has increased by over one third, or 37 percent, reaching a record high of $263 billion last year. In January to April this year, it went up by another 35 percent. We are using national currencies for mutual settlements more widely. In particular, over 80 percent of commercial transactions between Russia and the People’s Republic of China are made in rubles and yuan. The share of the Russian national currency in export transactions with all the SCO countries exceeded 40 percent in 2022,” the President pointed out.
