Vladimir Putin spoke at a reception in honour of the attendees at the Russia-Africa Summit

“It is equally important to note that today Russia and the African countries stand together for the formation of a just, multipolar world order based on the principles of sovereign equality of states, non-interference in their internal affairs, and respect for peoples' right to determine their own destiny. And, of course, our country will continue to make a real contribution to settling current crises and preventing the emergence of new hotbeds of tension on the continent, fighting terrorism and extremism, pandemics and hunger, and addressing issues of environmental, food and information security,” the President emphasised.

Vladimir Putin’s key statements at the plenary session of the second Russia–Africa Summit

“The theme of the second Russia-Africa Summit is For Peace, Security and Development, and the summit is not only focused on the further development of Russian-African strategic cooperation but also on the pivotal issues of global and regional stability, sustainable development of the continent, and the strengthening of all aspects of African countries’ sovereignty,” the President pointed out.

🔸Russia and the African states call for building a new, fairer global architecture.

🔸They are strengthening cooperation in preventing the proliferation of the terrorist threat.

🔸Russia and the African countries do not accept the replacement of international law with the so-called rules-based order, which some countries have declared and which they arbitrarily change.

“Importantly, Russia and Africa share the inherent commitment to standing up for genuine sovereignty and the right to follow their own unique development path in political, economic, social, cultural and other areas. However, this aspiration for independence and sovereignty does not mean self-isolation. On the contrary, it implies being open to cooperating with free nations and states who are equals and enjoy the same rights,” Vladimir Putin emphasised.

The President also highlighted the key areas of cooperation:

🔹Establishing ties between the EAEU and the African Continental Free Trade Area.

🔹Supporting the aspiration of the African countries to play a bigger role in UN activities.

🔹Promoting close cooperation between Russian and African law enforcement agencies and special services.

🔹Developing partnerships in the military and military-technical fields.

🔹Increasing Russia’s diplomatic presence in Africa, and stepping up efforts in tourism and culture, including opening Russia Houses in Africa.

🔹Increasing and diversifying trade with Africa by achieving a more energetic transition to national currencies in settlements and establishing new transport and logistics chains.

🔹Stability in shipments of agricultural products to Africa: in 2022, 11.5 million tonnes of grain were delivered, and almost 10 million tonnes in the first six months of 2023 alone.

“We are sincere in our commitment to working together with our African friends to promote a forward-looking vision, genuine strategic cooperation, and partnership. We value our relations with each African country and the continent as a whole and are certain that these relations have a bright future in the emerging multipolar world,” the President noted.

Vladimir Putin is holding a videoconference with families awarded the Order of Parental Glory

The Order of Parental Glory was established by Presidential Executive Order in 2008. It is awarded to parents and foster parents who are raising or have raised seven or more children.

"Families like yours are the pride of Russia. You bring up children in an atmosphere of love, care, mutual respect and support, and, what is very important, serve as a wonderful example for other people. When looking at you, everyone understands how important and valuable parental and family happiness is in life; that there is nothing better, nothing more valuable than a family where many children are raised. Hopefully, we will have more such families that embody real, true values, and not artificial ones," the President stressed.
