On October 22–24, Vladimir Putin will take part in the 16th BRICS summit, held in Kazan as part of the Russian chairmanship under the motto Strengthening Multilateralism for Equitable Global Development and Security
During meetings in restricted and extended formats, leaders of BRICS countries will exchange views on current international and regional issues, and discuss the three key tracks of cooperation, including politics and security, economy and finance, and cultural and humanitarian ties.
Particular attention will be given to the issues pertaining to a possible expansion of BRICS via the establishment of the partner state status, which is a new status for the association.
Reports will be heard from the chairmen of the New Development Bank, the BRICS Business Council, the Inter-Bank Cooperation Mechanism, and the Women's Business Alliance.
The results of the discussion will be summed up in the summit's Kazan Declaration.
On the final day of the summit, a BRICS Plus/Outreach meeting will take place, gathering representatives of almost forty countries, including leaders of the CIS countries, delegations from many Asian, African, Middle Eastern, and Latin American states, as well as heads of executive bodies of several international organisations.
The discussion is to revolve around current international issues with a focus on the escalation in the Middle East and cooperation of BRICS states and the Global South in the interest of ensuring sustainable development.
The President of Russia will hold bilateral meetings with almost all the leaders taking part in the summit.
