I always advise relatives to check out CQC reports even though majority of staff behave when CQC turn up, check out carehome.org as you get genuine reviews on there and visit them, see if you can chat to staff, relatives and some residents. You get some good homes and you get some meh homes.

Carers are the unsung heros, hands down. They do so much for so little and the majority of them have good hearts. We've found a little home near us that isn't too big and has a nice location, they do day outs and have a mini bus, we're going to book to have a look about and they've not long had a make over but its very friendly, the family know of families of people who work there so it wouldn't be a strange place either x
