R to @LadyMephisto: I’m 100% a visual learner, which is a bit weird for someone whose job is words I guess!

R to @AgingIrishDyke: I did suspect being autistic had something to do with it. SB used to love sitting with me (me with my back to the bookcases) calling out a book and seeing if I got the colour (and shelf!) right! Ottolenghi Simple, Yellow. Declutter, eau de nil. Greenfeasts, fuschia. Hours of fun!

R to @peejay16: I LOVE colours. Got in trouble age 11 for a piece of creative writing I did describing walking through a woodland, my then English teacher (Miss Langham, hi!) marked me DOWN for ‘using too many colours’ in the piece. The injustice of that was clearly particularly stinging!

R to @BootstrapCook: I blame early exposure to Joseph And The Technicolour Dreamcast (I understudied for the Narrator) - can still do the ‘red and yellow and green and brown and scarlet and black and ochre and peach and ruby and olive and violet and fawn and cream and crimson and silver and rose…

Can never remember where I left my sodding house keys, though.

R to @messycrafter: ‘Some years ago now’. It’s right there in the tweet.

R to @nixsight: 98% of the time, they’re ‘gender critical’ too. Almost as though they have form for denying people their own realities and insisting that others live their lives according to the strictures of their own bitter prejudices. Funny that.

R to @messycrafter: And I more than anyone know the truth of that history, Chris, and it’s arrogant as all hell for you or anyone else to insist your version of events is somehow more accurate than the person whose literal fing life it is.

I do find it curious how many of my most persistent trolls + harassers are openly ‘gender critical’. Almost as though there’s a link between denying people their own realities, and arrogantly insisting that we live our lives according to the confinements of their own prejudices.

R to @BootstrapCook: I think me being nonbinary has a little to do with it, but I think the mob mentality of hounding someone who is openly fragile and a little bit ‘different’ has a lot more to do with it. It’s a hideous look on you all, anyway, and your masks are well and truly melting.

R to @Disco_Stooo_: And you’re a libellous liar, but there we go. Don’t kid yourself that you’re relevant enough to sue though, at best you’ll be a footnote of supporting evidence in the ~proper~ legal case.

R to @messycrafter: ‘Triggered’. Naw pet, laying on the couch with the dog and cat, casually and entirely calmly contemplating what on earth makes people behave towards complete strangers the way you are doing right now on Twitter. But only briefly, coz, I have a house to pack up and a life to live.

R to @BootstrapCook: I do find it incredibly (but again, fleetingly) depressing that a ‘retired ex teacher, grandmother and feminist’ is desperately regressing to the lexicon of teen-boy 4Chan trolls, though. It’s not very becoming for a woman of your experience, Chris, but it IS very revealing.

R to @messycrafter: Well if you are going to insist on storming into my day and demanding a battle of wits, it’s absolutely not my fault you’ve turned up to it unarmed.

R to @pauline_a_d: Yes! ‘Second bookcase along, third shelf down, somewhere in the middle’. Can’t WAIT to arrange our new bookcases in the new place. Well, very old bookcases. Just in a very new way.

R to @atraumatisedMum: So was mine til I dyed almost everything black in the machine in a fit of particularly immobilising depression 🤣 Now it’s SUPER colour coded 🖤

R to @pauline_a_d: I made that additional shelving from an old bed and some cheap corner brackets. It was a tad precarious, but it held!
