RT by @salihughes: The wives of Henry VIII taking five penalties is as follows

1. Boleyn (scores)
2. Aragon (scores)
3. Howard (puts herself up, too young, bottles it, tame shot, saved)
4. Cleves (steps up confident, blazes over)
5. Parr (doesn’t get to even take hers, they’ve lost, wtf)

R to @katemagowan: I wonder with The Crown whether this would just fall on deaf ears though. There seems to have been a very calculated decision to dumb it down for the last two series. Acting, sets, costumes etc all still terrific. Writing now v v soapy and entirely unconvincing.

R to @katemagowan: I think being able to remember the events unfolding definitely makes it harder to suspend disbelief. But alongside that, the writing has nosedived in quality, which takes the viewer even further out of the moment. It’s such a marked change that it feels like Netflix made a call.

R to @McrCommuter: Now, this is so funny because we watched that the night before last and thought it very good but noticed several of those moments! The London hotel concierge said something absurd also.

R to @EliotWilson2: Ha. Yes, but there’s no way a British upper class child of the 1980s would have used it.

RT by @salihughes: Ok, here goes, why I don’t think #JeremyClarkson has committed a hate crime against Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex. Please bear in mind this is not a defence of what he wrote. I’m just trying to explain why he hasn’t broken the law, or in my view, the Editors’ Code of Practice

R to @calvinrobinson: No, I have never noticed that because it’s not remotely true.

R to @otheranthony: What he wrote was absolutely hateful. Revolting. People are appalled. The way that woman has been treated, cumulatively, is absolutely vile and shameful. I’ve said this from the start. But that thread was interesting on the law and doesn’t claim to deal with anything but that.

R to @teaforpterosaur: Also a v good thread I RTd earlier about the legal realities of the Clarkson piece, revolting though it undoubtedly was.
