Russia accounts for one-fifth of the global timber reserves, which is an immense natural asset for our country, including both its environment and industrial development. Whether we are using it wisely is another question.

The timber industry has solid long-term growth potential. We need to support timber processing companies and specialists working in this sector, as well as companies investing in advanced timber processing.

We must deliver on the strategic development mission for the timber industry, which consists of increasing domestic demand, expanding timber processing capabilities and making quality value-added products.

We must also make wider use of biofuel in the housing and utilities sector. Mortgages have to be used to build wooden houses on a larger scale.
