On April 27, Vladimir Putin held a meeting on the development of unmanned aerial vehicles
“This is an industry where we can and should not just substitute imports, but get one step ahead of our competitors,” the President of Russia emphasised.
He outlined a number of steps to support and develop the industry:
Remove outdated administrative and other kinds of barriers, formulate clear and transparent standards for the industry.
Expand the use of domestic AI-enabled solutions and digital platforms for storing, processing and analysing data from drones.
Create manufacturing clusters for unmanned aerial systems and ground infrastructure for them.
Create demand for Russian-made drones through state orders, primarily for civilian UAVs.
Provide financial support to the industry, including through investment.
Include training courses and modules on UAV operation in educational programmes.
