R to @Mr_NCPA: Not true. Haven’t bought a single piece of furniture since I’ve been in recovery. Sold a lot of it, though.

R to @SamanthaJBrady1: All UK rewards have been posted. For overseas ones I was waiting for the Christmas/strikes backlog to clear. It’s not ideal right now with post being so erratic but it’s all been sent.

R to @ColDax5: As I said, I had no idea about it. I’m not sure you know how this industry works, but, I don’t set my fees. I take what I’m given and say Thankyou for it.

R to @kapowcomicsuk: It was a mixture, actually. But what would I know, I was only actually there.

R to @hrbooth20: I was left in a 2 year fixed term contract for a very expensive house with very expensive running costs, Heather. I couldn’t not pay my rent and bills. The frivolous spending was ~before~ then, ~before~ rehab, ~before~ we split up. It’s all there.

People seem to be deliberately twisting a very clear timeline of events here, so I’ll clarify again.

2011-2013: Poverty

2013-2020: Descent into alcoholism, frivolous behaviour, drunk purchases, etc

Early 2021: Rehab. Sobriety. Lost p/t admin assistant. Fell behind on Patreon.

R to @BootstrapCook: June 2021: Relationship breakdown. Left with all house bills in 2 year contract.

June 2021 onwards: Stopped spending money on booze and furniture, because I was responsible for the house alone and also in recovery.

Late 2022: Tipping back into crisis point financially >>

R to @BootstrapCook: >> because of rent and bills and insecure income. Wrote a blog about it.

Very late 2022: Signed a new book deal. Not a life changing sum, but a ‘back from the brink’ bit of security for a while.

Dec 2022/Jan 2023: Mailed out outstanding Patreon pledges. Still sober.

R to @BootstrapCook: Feb 2023: Bloody tenancy finally ends on this ludicrous house, downsizing and moving to a one bedroom flat to try to get a handle on managing a precarious freelance income and be able to breathe a bit.

That’s it. That’s the timeline. And I of all people should know.

R to @BootstrapCook: So yes, over the years I’ve blown some cash recklessly, I’m an alcoholic and an addict and blackout is quite the thing - but that was earned from book sales and speaking gigs, NOT from Patreon. Ironically that only started fing up when I went sober.

R to @BootstrapCook: I’m not perfect. I’m disorganised, chaotic, was hiding years of addiction that was masking years of trauma and fear. I’ve made mistakes, been scared to face up to stuff, taken on too much, and paid v heavily for it.

I’m working on it. One day at a time. And that’s all I can do.

R to @BootstrapCook: I’m going to walk the dog, but if you see anyone claiming anything to the contrary on here, feel free to post a link to the first tweet in the thread as a reply. I’m so very tired of being lied about when I’ve been nothing but (probably far too) honest every step of the way.

R to @QueSarahSarah19: It was sty because it was chaotic, cluttered, untidy. That was on alcoholic, disorganised, mentally ill me.

It’s ludicrous because of the running costs and size of it for 2 people.

Both of these things are simultaneously true.

R to @Adrian_Hilton: It hasn’t been. They’re still distributing the book, just with an addendum added. I did contact the journalist to explain this but I see it’s not been amended…
